Antler, the global early-stage venture capital firm, has made its largest investment yet in the UK, pouring more than £1.5 million into 14 AI-driven startups coming out of its Spring 2025 London residency. This marks the highest number of investments Antler has made from a single residency anywhere in the world.
Earlier this year, over 90 founders took part in Antler’s intensive eight-week London residency. They pitched ideas, teamed up, and developed early-stage products, with just 14 startups eventually securing funding. These companies span a wide range of sectors, from consumer technology and B2B software to fintech, renewable energy, robotics, and cybersecurity.
The startups themselves show just how broad and ambitious the UK’s AI ecosystem has become. For example, 19VPN is working on a decentralised VPN designed to shake up online privacy and security. Kivo is building a full-stack AI marketplace for buying and selling pre-loved furniture, complete with trusted listings and streamlined logistics.
OCCAM is developing a universal AI “brain” that enables any robot to understand its environment and act on its own. And Ralio is creating the payment infrastructure that autonomous AI agents will need to function independently. Other startups like Overmind, AmbixOS, Souk, and 3Sigma further illustrate the diversity of innovation underway.
In a conversation with TFN, Adam French, Partner at Antler, says, “First, we’re seeing the flywheel effect from London’s maturing tech ecosystem. Talented operators from companies like DeepMind, Revolut, and other British unicorns are leaving to start their own ventures. They’ve seen what exceptional execution looks like, and they’re hungry to build.
Second, the calibre of technical talent is extraordinary. British universities, particularly Cambridge and Imperial, are producing world-class AI researchers who aren’t just publishing papers; they’re turning that expertise into companies. The founders of ElevenLabs and Helsing came through Cambridge, and that’s not a coincidence.
But the third factor is what really matters: these founders are choosing to stay. They’re seeing the scale of opportunity in AI, and they’re building in London because they know they can win from here.”
Antler’s investment approach aims to solve a persistent pain point for UK startups: long, drawn-out fundraising cycles. French explains, “The best founders don’t want to spend months in fundraising cycles when they should be building. Our model removes that friction entirely. The goal is simple: give founders what they need to build as far as possible in eight weeks.”
With this record-breaking cohort, Antler is betting on the UK as a global hub for AI innovation.
