Bayelsa lifts ban on employment in civil service

Bayelsa State Government has lifted the ban on employment in the state civil service.

The state government made this known in a special announcement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Dr Stanley Sokarion Tuesday.

Sokari said all applications should reach the commission no later than March 21st, 2025.

According to the announcement, the letters should be addressed to the chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission.

It added that should indicate the position being sought, age, sex, home town, local government area, qualification, relevant professional certificates and working experience.

An embargo came into effect after the employment of a thousand graduates during the last administration of Henry Seriake Dickson.

There were concerns over the monthly wage bill although there were allegations of some employments that were done under the radar.

The announcement read in part, “His Excellency, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has graciously approved the employment of suitably qualified indigenes of Bayelsa State into the Bayelsa State Civil Service.

“Interested and qualified candidates are requested to submit well-written letters of application to the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission for employment.”
