Big Idea Ventures Acquires Investment Platform Vevolution – vegconomist

Vevolution, the platform connecting startups and innovators in the bioeconomy with impact investors and corporate partners, has been acquired by Big Idea Ventures.

Claiming to be the world’s most active investor in food technology, Big Idea Ventures is a global venture capital firm that has backed numerous breakthrough teams in alternative proteins, sustainable agriculture, and food innovation. Following the acquisition, the firm aims to make Vevolution a leading investment platform, supporting companies with new investment opportunities, enhanced matchmaking tools, and deeper collaboration across the food, agriculture, and bioeconomy ecosystem.

Since launching, Big Idea Ventures has invested in more than 150 startups and built a broad network across the corporate and institutional investment landscape. The firm not only backs innovative teams, but also manages a fund that builds companies from the ground up.

“Over the next year and beyond, you’ll see us partnering with some of the biggest global supporters of innovation and with regions working to build entrepreneurial ecosystems — building a strong, connected community of investors, founders, and advisors working together to deliver the solutions the world urgently needs,” said Big Idea Ventures.

Supporting innovation ecosystems worldwide

Founded by British entrepreneurs Damien Clarkson and Judy Nadel, Vevolution began as an event and media platform but pivoted to become an investment platform during the pandemic. So far, the platform has helped startups such as MeliBio, Fermify, Boston Bioprocess, POSEIDONA, Opalia, and De Novo Foodlabs to collectively raise millions of dollars.

In 2022, the platform itself raised $330,000 in seed funding. The news of the acquisition by Big Idea Ventures comes just weeks after Clarkson and Nadel’s other business, pet food brand THE PACK, was acquired by Prefera Petfood.
