TRANS Wonderland Limited managing director Larry Andagali has encouraged youths in the country to pursue their goals in life by managing their time wisely.
Speaking at the PNG Youth Resource Week event in Port Moresby on Tuesday, he shared this as a lesson with those in attendance, stating that time management was an important skill in running his business.
“Time is a valuable resource and how we use it matters each day.
“By getting the basics right, you can be a positive contributor to society.
“Everything is all within us and it starts with you.
“If you want to be a lawyer, accountant or businessman, that idea is within you to achieve.”
Andagali, who is a prominent businessman in the country, urged the youths to develop good morals and ethics in their lives.
He said many employers sought workers who were able to perform their tasks so developing a proper attitude for work was far more important than having degrees or diplomas.
“As employers, we do not look at a degree, we do not look at the diploma or how many years you have been working.
“We invest in hardworkers; people who can wake up early and finish late, and people we can rely on
“When we are interviewing people, we want to see whether they have the attitude or not.
“Humbleness and humility is key to becoming successful.”
He also urged the youths to be mindful of their spending habits, especially during such tough economic times in the country.
“Live within your means, do not spend the money you don’t have.
“If you are spending all your fortnight on the first day you receive your pay, that means you are spending money you don’t have.”
The PNG Youth Resource Week started on Tuesday and ends tomorrow.
More than 20,000 participants have registered to attend and interact with key government agencies, businesses and other organisations.
Important discussions and other events are scheduled to take place in the hopes of providing the young people future career and educational opportunities.
