Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking at the first anniversary of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Goa Centre, declared the state’s ambition to become a leading entrepreneurship hub. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of EDC Limited.

Sawant highlighted the success of initiatives like the Chief Minister Rozgar Yojana (CMRY), which has already disbursed Rs 300 crore to over 8,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, MSME term loans have provided Rs 4,100 crore to support over 13,000 businesses across Goa.

The EDII Goa Centre has played a key role in fostering this entrepreneurial spirit. In the past year, it has trained roughly 1,500 entrepreneurs through programmes like the Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP), Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), and Management Entrepreneurship Development Programme (MEDP). These programmes equip participants with crucial business skills in areas such as marketing, legal matters, and finance. The CMRY scheme further supports these entrepreneurs by offering loans with a 2 per cent interest rate, covering up to 95 per cent of project costs for ventures up to Rs 25 lakh.

During the event, Sawant launched the EDII Goa website and unveiled commemorative souvenirs. He expressed gratitude to his Gujarat counterpart for facilitating the establishment of the EDII centre in Goa, recognising its contribution to the state’s entrepreneurial growth.

Further bolstering these efforts, the Goa government announced new initiatives like the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP). RAMP will provide Business Management Training (BMT) to MSMEs and work towards transforming 1,600 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) into MSMEs.
