The State government is committed to providing quality education and employment opportunities to poor students, Minister for Social Welfare Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said. Within 10 months of taking over the reins of power, measures were taken to construct new SC Hostels and Gurukul Schools.
The Minister visited the free DSC Training Centre at Dwarakanagar and the SC Hostel at Madhurawada in the city along with MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao on Thursday (April 17). He said that repairs would be taken up and amenities provided in the existing hostels.
The Minister joined the students in the classroom at the DSC Training Centre and observed the teaching pattern of the faculty. He asked the officials concerned on the problems of candidates, and the amenities available at the training centre. Later, he distributed DSC course material, free of cost, to the candidates.
In all, 3,400 poor students were being given free DSC training in the State. The number of NEET training centres in Gurukul Schools in the State have been increased from three to 10. The SC/ST backlog posts would be filled soon, he added.
Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy explained that the quality food, with better quality rice, would be provided to residents of Social Welfare Hostels and students of Gurukul Schools from the next academic year.
