College of Commissioners – European Commission

The College of Commissioners meets once per week to debate and adopt legislative proposals, and to discuss current developments. It usually meets every Wednesday in Brussels. During the European Parliament plenary sessions in Strasbourg, the meeting takes place on Tuesday. The President of the Commission can call extraordinary College meetings if circumstances require, to discuss a particular topic or event.

Decisions are taken collectively by the College of Commissioners based on the principle of collegiality. Each of the 27 members of the College carries the same weight within the decision-making process and is equally responsible for the decisions made.
