County Council’s disposal of Rathdrum site set to bring employment to Co Wicklow town

The elected members agreed to the disposal of 0.8092 hectares or thereabouts in the townland of Corballis Upper, Rathdrum, being the property known as Site 19 in Avondale Business Park, Corballis Upper, Rathdrum.

Cllr Kennedy stated: “This is very important for Rathdrum. I’m delighted to see it coming before us today and I want to thank our own manager and the staff, some of them who are with here us today, for all the background work that they’ve done to bring employment to Rathdrum. It is a wonderful opportunity. And I just want to put on the record my gratitude to them, to the chief executive, the manager and the staff who all worked in the background on this. I am delighted to propose it.”

Cllr Bourke commented: “It’s a long time since we had a disposal in this park, this industrial park that we’re trying to develop there. It’s been about 25 years since we did a previous disposal and I hope that it won’t be as long until we do the next disposal up there because it’s crying out for more employment in the area.”

The meeting also saw councillors pass several other disposals, including 0.0128 hectares or thereabouts in the townland of Tiknock, being the property known as 8 St Patrick’s Terrace, Arklow, to Ms Kathleen Dunne.

175 square metres or thereabouts in the townland of Kilcoole was disposed of to Renaat Verbruggen, while 0.0266 hectares or thereabouts in the townland of Old Connaught being the property known as 1 James Everett Park, Bray, County Wicklow was disposed of by transfer to Patrick and Barbara McLoughlin.

0.0278 hectares or thereabouts in the townland of Knockanrahan Lower, being the property known as 6 Knockanrahan, Arklow, was disposed of by transfer to Pauline and Denis Earls.

0.0161 hectares or thereabouts in the townland of Knockanrahan Lower, being the property known as 17 Liam Mellows Avenue, Arklow, County Wicklow, was transferred to Marion Lawlor.

322 square metres or thereabouts in the townland of Newrath, Rathnew, County Wicklow being the property originally acquired from Kathleen Bourne, Mary Kate Shannon, Rosemary Alexander, Elizabeth McCormack and Rosemary Magnier, was disposed of to Clermont Enterprise Hub CLG by way of a 99-year lease commencing on May 1.

The elected members also voted in favour of taking some roads in charge under section 11 of the Roads Act 1993, mainly consisting of roads in Greystones, as well as roads in Delgany, Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy and Rathnew.

The roads taken in charge included Station Road in Bray, School Road in Greystones, Kindlestown Upper North Road in Greystones, Cherry Orchard Lane in Greystones, Edengate Road in Delgany, Ballycrone Road in Kilcoole, Holywell Avenue in Kilcoole, Moneycarroll Road in Newtownmountkennedy, Monalin Road in Newtownmountkennedy and Merrymeeting, Ballybeg, Rathnew.
