The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen presented to the European Parliament in Strasbourg the composition of the new College of Commissioners.
Ekaterina Zaharieva takes over the department “Startups, studies and innovations”.
„The project structure of the new EC is based on our political priorities”, said Ursula von der Leyen in Strasbourg.
It is based on competitiveness, security and digitalization, added the President of the EC.
Until the end, it was not certain that the announcement would take place due to a delay in the procedure for nominating the European Commissioner candidate from Slovenia.
A total of 11 women are part of the new EC.
Next, the MEPs will confirm its new composition.
