Minister for Milk and Dairy Development T. Mano Thangaraj presented the offer letters to the selected candidates, who participated in the mega job fair organised by Kanniyakumari district administration. The event was held at a private engineering college near Nagercoil on Saturday.
The job fair was jointly organised by the district administration in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, Startup TN, and Asgardia Foundation.
Mr. Mano Thangaraj highlighted the growth of employment in the IT sector during the DMK government’s tenure. “When our government assumed office, around 7.8 lakh individuals were employed in the IT sector. By the time, I left the Ministry of Information technology, this number had increased to 10.08 lakh,” he said.
Many students in Kanniyakumari district remained unemployed or underemployed due to limited job opportunities and a lack of career guidance. To address this, six private job fairs were conducted in recent months.
Continuing this initiative, the district administration had planned a mega job far. Prominent companies such as Tata Power Solar Ltd, Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd, TVS, and Tech Mahindra participated in the job fair. A total of 5,400 candidates registered for the job fair with around 4,500 participating. Of these, 1,500 candidates received offer letters on the spot.
District Collector R. Alagumeena, Padmanabhapuram Sub Collector Vinay Kumar Meena, and District Revenue Officer J. Balasubramaniam were present.
