Ministry of Employment and Labor’s 24th Job Task Force Meeting

For the 11th month in a row, the youth employment index is getting worse. In order to prevent the increase in young people who have “rested,” the government has provided close support, such as expanding the work experience of large corporations.
Related ministries, including the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, held a meeting of the 24th Job Task Force (TF) on the afternoon of the 16th and discussed the “six major youth job projects.”
As of March this year, the youth employment rate was only 44.5%. This is the 11th consecutive month of decline. On the other hand, the unemployment rate rose to 7.5%. The number of ‘rested’ young people reached 455,000, increasing for 11 consecutive months.
As a result, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has set aside 2.4564 trillion won as a budget for the youth job project this year to establish and operate customized job projects for each stage of “going to school, looking for a job, looking for a job.” However, it turned out that many companies and young people in the field still do not know about government projects.
In particular, the work experience business will be expanded to 58,000 people, up 10,000 from last year, in consideration of the recruitment trend that prefers experienced workers to new employees. This year, companies favored by young people, such as Naver, Kakao, and Hyundai Motor, participated, expanding jobs preferred by young people such as artificial intelligence (AI).
The youth employment all-care platform will also be in full operation. Among the 1.4 million applicants for the national scholarship, 110,000 unemployed graduates will be selected to provide customized employment support. The platform plans to build a computer network by the end of the year to increase the discovery of unemployed graduates.
For young people who have taken a long break, the focus is on daily recovery and encouraging their desire to find a job. Starting this year, a parent classroom and peer support group has been established to encourage parents and friends to discover vulnerable young people, such as giving up job search, and to participate in job support projects.
There are also support measures that small and medium-sized companies will welcome. For young people who are already in office, it is decided to provide up to 4.8 million won, 2.4 million won each for 18 months and 24 months of service to small and medium-sized companies with vacant jobs such as manufacturing and construction.
