What’s Happening at Google?

Google is reportedly offering buyouts to employees across several divisions, including its knowledge and information (K&I) unit.

According to CNBC, the move is the tech giant’s latest effort to reduce its headcount, which it has continued to do in waves since 2023.

Google’s K&I unit, which houses the company’s search, ads, and commerce teams, employs approximately 20,000 people.

Impact on Canadian Staff

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is working to determine if any Canadian employees at Google have been offered a buyout — also known as a voluntary severance package.

According to LinkedIn, the company currently has more than 3,900 workers in the country.
