These are all the significant developments tabled with councils across the city-region this week
A huge industrial park next to the M60 has one of the key developments planned across Greater Manchester this week.
The 6.5 million sq ft employment site would be placed where the M60 meets the M62 and the M66. It is expected to create around 10,000 new jobs for the local area and contribute around £630m to the economy.
Elsewhere, in Stockport, a decision over the Edgeley Park stadium could come earlier than expected.
There are hopes the proposals could be decided this summer by Stockport Council’s planning committee. The scheme would see an extra 7,400 seats to the ground – bringing the total capacity of the stadium to more than 18,000.
Here is a breakdown of each borough’s submitted planning applications this week
Rochdale
Plans tabled for huge industrial park next to M60 that could create 10,000 new jobs
Plans for a massive, 6.5 million sq ft employment site next to the M60, M62 and M66 motorways intersection have officially been tabled with councils.
The huge employment site is expected to create around 10,000 new jobs for the local area and contribute around £630m to the regional economy annually.
The land on the border of Rochdale and Bury has been earmarked for the industrial space, suitable for a wide range of businesses in the advanced manufacturing and industrial and logistics sectors.
Stockport
Stockport County gets major update on its future
Stockport County could be set for a massive boost with the club and local councillors saying a date has been put forward to decide the expansion of Edgeley Park.
The football club announced plans last year to add an extra 7,400 seats to the ground in a move to bring the total capacity of the stadium to more than 18,000.
But before any work can begin at Edgeley Park, approval is needed from Stockport council’s planning committee, a panel which is made up of 12 councillors.
In a major update, local Edgeley councillors and Stockport County club officials have said the application to expand the ground could be decided this summer.

How Ashton town centre could look after HUGE facelift
New images have revealed how a transformed Ashton town centre could look with two shopping centres and the former bus station earmarked for change.
The latest version of the Ashton masterplan builds on the ongoing transformation of Market Square and development of St Petersfield as part of the Ashton Mayoral Development (AMDZ).
The plan, approved by town hall bosses, would see the Arcades and Ladysmith shopping centres reconfigured to ‘better suit the needs of locals’.
The vacant space where the old bus station once stood would become home to a new public realm with an improved link to the train station.
Trafford
Former Poundland store set for big transformation
Plans have been submitted to redevelop a former Poundland shop in Altrincham into three new retail units.
Property company Bruntwood and Trafford council have tabled the scheme for the 7,000 sq ft space in the Stamford Quarter, vacated by the discount retailer last summer. It forms part of the major regeneration of the area, which includes the creation of Foundation, a 4,000 sqft collaborative workspace and leisure destination.
The plans also include a living biophilic – meaning covered with plants – external façade that includes outlets like Nell’s Pizza, Yum Cha, Lane 7 and Starbucks.
