Italy’s employment rate climbed to
62.7% in the first quarter of this year, a rise of 0.4 of a
percentage point on the previous three months to take it to the
highest level on record since the start of the statistical
series in 2004.
The national statistics agency said the unemployment rate
remained stable at 6.1% in the first quarter, while the
inactivity rate dropped 0.4 of a point to 33.1%.
Istat said the number of people in employment in Italy increased
by 141,000 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 and by
432,000 in year-on-year terms.
