A recruitment freeze in the Civil Service in Jersey is being extended until March 2026, the government has confirmed.
The States Employment Board brought in the move for non-essential, non-frontline, and more senior posts last August.
The government said 1,000 unfilled vacancies have been removed so far as part of the freeze.
The freeze is now being extended to posts with salaries above £53,500, and all non-clinical, non-teaching and non-social worker roles in both the Health and Care Jersey and Children, Young People, Education and Skills departments.
Deputy Malcom Ferey, vice-chair of the States Employment Board, said: “This government pledged to curb the growth in the size of the public sector, focus on frontline staff and develop on-Island talent rather than relying on agency workers.”
He said the policy was working, and the board wanted to “continue to reap those benefits while saving taxpayers money”.
