NAGERCOIL
For the first time, Kanniyakumari district is set to host a large-scale job fair on May 24, featuring participation from over 40 leading companies and offering more than 2,500 job opportunities for eligible candidates.
The district administration has organised the job fair at Ponjesly Engineering College near Nagercoil from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in partnership with the TN Skill Development Corporation, Startup TN and Asgardia Foundation.
In a press conference held in Nagercoil ahead of the job fair, Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena said that similar job fairs have been conducted in Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi and Coimbatore. However, this is the first time such an extensive job fair is being held in Kanniyakumari.
She added that the event would benefit not only candidates from Kanniyakumari district, but also those from neighbouring districts such as Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi. Ms. Alagumeena highlighted that several reputed companies such as TVS, Ashok Leyland, Bosch are participating in the fair which would be a great opportunity for the unemployed who have been awaiting job openings for a long time.
She assured that the openings are for permanent employment, not for internships, emphasising the fair’s focus on creating stable opportunities.
To facilitate easy registration, QR codes will be placed in public areas such as markets, bus stands and buses across the district. This will enable students and job seekers to register effortlessly.
The fair will be organised into separate sectors to cater to different categories of candidates, including engineering graduates, arts and science graduates and ITI and diploma holders.
The age limit for the participants is 18 to 34 and the fair is open to students who graduated between 2022 and 2025. Final year students awaiting their results are also eligible to participate.
