OKMULGEE, Okla.- The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Employment and Training Administration announced the New Employment Support Service Program. This program provides financial assistance to previously unemployed citizens who are transitioning into a new job. The service is a temporary assistance to help cover expenses.
MCN ETA Manager Jessinna Factor (Mvskoke) said, ”The new Employment Support Service Program offers financial assistance for employment-related expenses when obtaining new employment after a 30-day break in receiving income. Applications must be completed before the first full paycheck.”
This program can help with gas, tools, and anything that will be in need to begin their new job, said Factor. These funds have a lifetime amount.
According to the application, to be qualified the applicant must be an enrolled MCN citizen or enrolled in another federally recognized tribe and must reside within MCN jurisdiction. The applicant will need to submit the complete application before the first full paycheck.
To clarify, the citizen has to be employed before they get in contact with MCN ETA. “The citizen has obtained employment on their own, by the time they contact our office for this program. ETA does not assist with finding employment for the New Employment Support Service Program. Although, we do have the Career Readiness Program that assists with finding employment opportunities,” Factor said.
Their main goal for this program is to help the Tribal citizens succeed and to avoid challenges when transitioning into their new position.
“To help with beginning work or getting back into the workforce. Sometimes, it can be hard from not having any income to obtaining employment. Employers may require certain things to begin work and this breaks the barrier of not having any income, so they can at least start to work and get them through until they receive their first check. Although it does not take care of everything, it does help,” Factor said.
Factor even included that they are also able to assist Tribal citizens in finding a job through their Career Readiness Program. Factor stated, “Career Readiness Program once the application is in and all of the documents had been submitted that were needed then a Job Placement Specialist will reach out to the applicant to begin the process.”
Factor wants to encourage the citizens to take advantage of this year around program.
