Plans for a shotblasting and paint spraying facility have been welcomed by council to create skilled employment opportunities.
Newark Town Council considered an application by Ultimation Direct for the facility, proposed to be built on a small yard off Trent Lane.
It would include the construction of two metal-clad buildings, on what is currently a service yard to an existing neighbouring building.

Mathew Skinner praised the application, and said: “I fully support this, it’s a great idea for the use of this bit of land.
“Its previously industrial land, and this will create skilled employment.”
Two additional full-time equivalent employment positions are proposed to be created as part of the application.
Lynn Roulstone suggested she’d like more information about potential contamination from the paint spraying.
The applicant will be required to apply for a permit from Environmental Health at Newark and Sherwood District Council in order to carry out paint spraying, if the planning application is approved.
The proposal also has the support of neighbouring company and previous owner of the site, Hoval, and a spokesman stated: “We fully support the application to expand in-house facilities for the new owners thus reducing the carbon footprint of their manufactured products and promoting local business expansion, engineering and technology.”
Councillors agreed to lodge no objections, subject to appropriate hours of operation and the environmental health officer being content.
A decision on the application will be made by Newark and Sherwood District Council at a later date.
