GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich,. (WPBN/WGTU) — A full circle moment for two Northern Michigan entrepreneurs Friday, as they pack up to sale their products in a unique way.
Brothers Dakota and Garret Porter came up with ActionGlow , now a company that puts LED lights on sporting equipment, in 2011 while snow boarding at Mt. Holiday in Traverse City.
The brothers were just teenagers at the time.
Since then, they’ve grown the business, even appearing on shark tank in 2022, striking a deal with Robert Herjavec.
Friday evening, the Porters were back at Mt. Holiday to host a kickoff party before hitting the road on a national tour, traveling the country to connect with store owners.
They’ll be taking the trip in a bus they’ve transformed into an RV.
“Our school bus, we’ve been building it out for over eight years now,” said Dakota Porter, ActionGlow Co-Founder. “We’re doing a national tour around the country, going back to the grassroots way of selling. So we’re gonna be stopping at mom and pops, serf, skate, ski and bike shops; and selling our product, ActionGlow, to these store owners face to face.”
The Porters, grateful for their success as young entrepreneurs, will also be stopping at schools and universities along the way to promote youth entrepreneurship nationwide.
If you want to keep track of their entrepreneurs trip, the two entrepreneurs will be documenting the journey on their social media.
