Nvidia is making a major push into the UK AI scene with a £2 billion investment aimed at accelerating innovation among startups across the country. The newly launched “Nvidia AI Foundry” program will provide funding, early access to the company’s most advanced GPUs, cloud computing credits, and technical support to about two dozen promising startups working in sectors ranging from healthcare and finance to retail and defence.
This investment is Nvidia’s largest single regional commitment to AI outside the U.S. By partnering with early-stage companies like Pharmatech, a drug-discovery startup based in London, and Edinburgh fintech firm QuantifyAI, Nvidia hopes to create a vibrant AI ecosystem that leverages the U.K.’s top-tier universities and growing venture capital community.
In addition to these emerging startups, Nvidia is making strategic investments in leading tech firms such as autonomous vehicle developer Wayve and fintech giant Revolut. Nvidia plans to invest $500 million in Wayve to accelerate the development and deployment of its cutting-edge Embodied AI technology, which powers autonomous driving systems.
CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the vision behind the program: “The United Kingdom is in a Goldilocks moment, where world-class universities, bold startups, leading researchers and cutting-edge supercomputing converge. There has never been a better time to invest in the U.K. — AI is unlocking new science and sparking entirely new industries. With new capital and advanced infrastructure, we are doubling down to empower the U.K. to lead the next wave of AI innovation.”
The investment will be spread over five years, combining equity stakes and grants. Beyond capital, startups will gain early access to Nvidia’s cutting-edge graphics processing technology, cloud resources, and direct collaboration opportunities with Nvidia’s engineers through their research labs and developer forums.
The UK government has also put forward ambitious plans to become a global AI powerhouse, recently unveiling a £1 billion AI innovation strategy aimed at attracting private-sector investment. Nvidia’s initiative complements this strategy perfectly and reinforces its position as a preferred AI platform provider for startups worldwide.
This new UK program follows similar efforts by Nvidia in Canada and Singapore, where the company has committed $1 billion over three years and $500 million, respectively, through cloud credits and training grants.
As part of the program, participating startups will be invited to an exclusive annual summit in Cambridge. This event will serve as a hub for sharing progress, forging connections, showcasing products, and opening doors to potential customers and investors.
