Oregon Employment Department issues corrected 1099-G tax forms after errors found

The Oregon Employment Department (OED) has identified errors in some 1099-G tax forms issued in January for Unemployment Insurance benefits paid in 2024. Approximately 12,000 forms, or 5 percent of the total, required updates.

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused some people,” said OED Director David Gerstenfeld. “The Employment Department is committed to providing people with accurate information as quickly as possible, which is why our employees are working hard to follow up with each impacted person with more specific information about their situation.”

The 1099-G forms, which detail government payments to individuals for tax purposes, are being corrected and reissued this week. The errors arose during the first issuance of these forms using the new Frances Online system, which launched on March 4, 2024, alongside the legacy system.

OED has implemented an update to Frances Online to address the errors and generate corrected forms. Impacted claimants have received automated messages in their Frances Online accounts with the corrected forms, which have also been mailed.

The department is validating the corrected forms and will provide updates and guidance to affected individuals. Detailed information and answers to frequently asked questions will be available on the OED’s Unemployment Insurance 1099-G information page.
