Over 3,500 secure jobs at Nanded police’s ‘Mission Udaan’ employment fair

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a concerted effort to combat unemployment and deter the youth from criminal activities, the Nanded district police, under the leadership of superintendent of police Abinash Kumar, organised a mega employment fair on May 3 as part of their ‘Mission Udaan’ initiative. The event concluded with 3,502 young men and women receiving job offers from nearly 100 participating companies.
When contacted, SP Abinash Kumar said the initiative aims to provide constructive opportunities for educated unemployed people, thereby steering them away from potential involvement in criminal activities. “Besides employment fairs, Mission Udaan also plans to offer guidance for competitive examinations such as MPSC and UPSC, along with mentorship programmes featuring accomplished role models,” said Kumar.
The day-long fair, held on Saturday, witnessed an overwhelming response from graduates, postgraduates, and even undergraduates from different streams, with 9,015 candidates registering and 6,038 attending in person.
“A diverse array of industries, including information technology, manufacturing, and services, was represented by 97 reputed companies. Notably, three differently-abled people — two with hearing and speech impairments and one with limb disabilities — secured employment through Youth Shakti Foundation and 24/7 Company, highlighting the fair’s inclusive approach,” said Kumar.
The event, the first of its kind to be held on such a large scale, was attended by several dignitaries, including Sunil G Vedpathak, the principal district and sessions judge of Nanded, MLC Hemant Patil, MP Ajit Gopchhade, MP Ravindra Chavan, MLAs Balaji Kalyankar and Anand Bondarkar, Nanded municipal commissioner Maheshkumar Doifode, and Eknath Pawar, among others.
Police authorities said Mission Udaan is a component of the broader Mission Sahayog framework, which encompasses eight innovative programmes aimed at strengthening community-police relations and fostering social development. Other initiatives under this umbrella include Operation Beat Connect, Operation Varsa Jatan, Nanded Police League (NPL), Mission Nirbhaya, Mission Samadhan, Mission Nirdhar, and Mission Ekta.
To ensure the comfort of attendees amid the summer heat, organisers arranged for shaded tents, coolers, fans, and ample supplies of cold drinking water. Additionally, nutritious meals and refreshments were provided, particularly benefiting those who travelled from distant areas to participate, said the police authorities.
