‘Over 75,000 units in 239 GIDCs giving employment to 20 lakh youth’ | Ahmedabad News

Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, during a discussion on the budgetary demands of the Industries, Mines and Minerals Department in the Legislative Assembly  Tuesday, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has made taken India to the world forum, also sped up Gujarat’s development, which now matches that of a bullet train.

“The Gujarat government is taking planned action to establish a GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) in every taluka. Currently, more than 20 lakh youth are getting employment directly or indirectly in around 75,000 units in 239 GIDCs in Gujarat. We have brought positive results in the industry sector by developing new dimensions like MSME Park, multilevel shed, women’s park. This year, a provision of Rs 3,600 crore has been made in the budget for various schemes of MSME and start-up units.” the minister said.

He said that the journey of development, which is running with a determination of “Developed Gujarat, Developed India”, is moving forward steadily under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Gujarat has always treated entrepreneurs with a warm welcome, as a result of which the state has become a role model of development in all sectors in India today, Rajput said.

Rajput said PM Modi welcomed the Tata, stranded in Bengal, with the message “Welcome to Gujarat” that created a new opportunity for the state and the common man got the world’s cheapest car — a rare event in the automobile and industrial sector.

The Minister said that under the guidance of CM Patel, the state has taken concrete steps towards the development of small industries through various schemes. “More than 19 lakh MSMEs in the state play an important role in the production and employment sector. Of these, 40 per cent units are working in the production sector, and 60 per cent in the service sector. The state government is also committed to developing cottage industries and handicrafts along with big industries,” the minister highlighted, while talking about the state’s new cottage and village industries policy. He added that over 12 lakh jobs will be created in the next five years.

Stating that such policies and working system of the government has increased the confidence of foreign investors in the state, the minister said that out of the 500 Fortune companies in the world, 100 have units operating in Gujarat. While during 2000-2024, there has been a 533 per cent increase in foreign direct investment in Gujarat, in the current financial year, it has received more foreign direct investment than the national average, he said.
