Possible rule changes could see more pensioners pocket cash boost
Some pensioners with an income over over £11,500 could be in line for a cash boost later this year.
The Government is reportedly considering changing qualifying rules for Winter Fuel Payments, worth up to £300.
It follows a backlash against changes to the support scheme by Labour last year.

It is reported the threshold to qualify could be raised from the current £11,500 for a single person and £17,500 for a couple.
Ministers are said to be considering the changes following Reform UK’s stunning local election performance, amid fears within Labour the unpopular policy is losing them votes to Nigel Farage’s party.
The Winter Fuel Payment was axed last year for all but the poorest pensioners.
The Government’s eligibility criteria cut out some households on low incomes, with charities claiming it left millions struggling to heat their homes.
Reports suggest ministers are unlikely to reverse its decision completely, but could increase the £11,500 threshold to allow more low-income households to qualify.

It follows reports axing the Winter Fuel Payment was brought up on doorsteps time and again in the run-up to the local elections.
It comes amid fears within Labour anger around Winter Fuel Payments has lost them trust with some voters, and also distracted from other measures the Government is taking to try to boost living standards.
Some Labour figures have branded the policy, announced soon after the general election win last year, a “disaster”.
