Private capital investors back the UK as an attractive place for business

The private capital investor community believes that the UK is an attractive investment prospect, according to new data.

New research from the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has found that 80% of private capital investors surveyed by the group believe the UK to range from fair to excellent when it comes to investment attractiveness.

Despite this belief, the respondents were split on whether they would increase (29%) or decrease (20%) their investment in the UK over the next five years, while the bulk (51%) expected the amount not to change.

“The UK can be at the forefront of a new wave of global investment, but to do so, the Government must help ensure that the UK is the most attractive destination it can be,” said BVCA chief executive Michael Moore.

Alongside its research, the BVCA recommended the government reform the the tax relief system to increase benefits for innovation and go further in its efforts to reform pension investment activity and tech regulation.

“Industry needs to see the government go further and deliver on tax, pensions and regulation. Private capital is standing by to invest even more into Britain’s future, but only if, as a nation, we adopt a system that is pro-growth, pro-innovation and globally competitive,” Moore said.
