Robotic fulfilment centre Skutopia’s founders were told their idea was “nuts”. Now it’s a $100 million-plus company

Two former finance managers who gave up corporate life to build robot-run warehouses for online retailers have secured a $100 million valuation for their seven-year-old start-up.

Skutopia is run by former News Corp managers Talea Bader and Emily Townsend and raised $38 million in a round led by Pemba Capital despite having their idea previously dismissed by major venture capital funds as too complex and expensive.
