Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) – Employment and labor force levels hit new all-time highs in the Rochester area last month.
The latest jobs statistics from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development show overall employment in Olmsted County exceeded 92,400 in March. That was about 180 above the employment number reported in February and is up by more than 3700 when compared to March of last year.

The size of the local labor force has grown by similar amounts. The jobs report put it at over 95,200 in March. It was just under 91,000 a year ago.
The unemployment rate for the Rochester area was steady last month at 3%. It remained the highest jobless rate reported in Olmsted County since August 2021. In March of last year, the local jobless rate was 2.4%
Regionwide, unemployment rates were steady or slightly lower. Olmsted County continued to have the lowest rate in southeastern Minnesota. The highest rate was found in Goodhue County at 3.9%, although that was down 3-tenths of a percentage point from February.
