TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau hosted an employment carnival at the Kaohsiung Science Park on Friday, uniting government, industry, and academia to promote talent-industry matchmaking and enhance understanding of the technology sector.
With the rapid global advancement of AI technology, southern Taiwan has emerged as a key hub for high-tech research, development, and production. This has substantially increased the demand for technology professionals in the region, according to the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau.
The event featured 18 companies, including Wiwynn and Merck, offering 300 jobs. Participating schools included 10 universities, such as Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology and National Cheng Kung University.
Bureau Director-General Cheng Hsiu-jung (鄭秀絨) said that the park integrates key industries such as semiconductors, smart manufacturing, and biotechnology. Supported by the Cabinet’s “Southern Taiwan Silicon Valley” policy, the park’s annual revenue has steadily increased, solidifying its status as one of Taiwan’s leading science parks.
The industries have attracted numerous domestic and international companies. In addition, new developments in Chiayi, Qiaotou, Nanzih, and Pingtung are underway, generating abundant job opportunities across the region.
This growth not only benefits local youth but also welcomes young professionals from north Taiwan and international students to work in the south.
The event included career exploration talks, corporate recruitment booths, and company site visits, offering southern youth comprehensive insights into the high-tech industry and potential career paths. Looking ahead, the National Science and Technology Council and the bureau will continue collaborating with local governments to foster a technology-driven and business-friendly environment in southern Taiwan.
