Nagpur: Maharashtra women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare issued clear directives for the immediate launch of a women-centric employment hub under the Maharashtra Women’s Economic Development Corporation (MAVIM) at Koradi in Nagpur district. The move aims to provide skill development and sustainable livelihoods to rural women, with the garment centre alone expected to generate around 200 jobs for members of self-help groups through structured training and timely stipend payments.During a high-level review meeting convened in Mumbai, Tatkare instructed the concerned officials to initiate the Koradi garment centre through a single-tender process to avoid delays and ensure the project starts swiftly. “This centre will provide sewing and tailoring training for women from self-help groups. The training should last six months, with stipends disbursed without delay to ensure smooth participation,” she said.Tatkare emphasised the urgency of meeting deadlines and called for an expedited commencement report on the project. The meeting also reviewed several other MAVIM-supported initiatives designed to strengthen women’s economic participation. He issued a stern warning against any laxity or irregularities in project implementation. “The Koradi projects must be expedited as a priority. No delay or negligence will be tolerated. If irregularities are found, strict action will be taken against responsible officials,” he said during the meeting. He also assured officials that funding constraints will not hamper project progress and stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and review. The meeting was attended by senior officials including secretary Dr Anupkumar Yadav, MAVIM managing director Nayana Gunde, department deputy secretary VR Thakur, chief manager Ravindra Sawant, and other key department heads.
