Andersen has appointed Tiago Piló, from Vieira de Almeida, as a new labour and employment partner and co-head of that department in its Lisbon office. Piló has more than 30 years of experience in labor law and labor relations.
José Mota Soares, partner of Andersen and head of the firm in Portugal, says that “the hiring of Tiago Piló is very important for the firm in Lisbon and Portugal, as well as for the Labor and Employment department that he will co-head. His technical quality and experience bring great added value to this area and his profile fits, without a doubt, in our strategy of specialization and growth”. He adds that “his experience and strategic vision will be key at a time when companies face important challenges in terms of reorganization, digital transformation and talent management.”
Tiago Piló
Throughout his career, Tiago Piló has advised national and international companies in the industrial, technology, healthcare, retail and financial services sectors. The new Andersen partner has solid experience in all aspects of labor law, such as corporate restructuring, collective bargaining, labor audits, implementation of internal policies and dispute resolution in both judicial and arbitration proceedings. In addition, he has extensive experience in labor due diligences in M&A transactions, as well as in the management of labor relations in environments of digital transformation and adaptation to new work models.
A graduate in Law from the University of Lisbon, Piló holds a postgraduate degree in European Legal Studies from the same university. He also holds the title of Labor Specialist and is a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA). He combines the practice of law with teaching postgraduate courses at the Catholic University of Oporto.
José Vicente Morote, managing partner of Andersen Iberia, points out that “the incorporation of Tiago Piló responds to our strategy of quality and specialization, and to our desire to have robust and first class teams in all our offices”. He adds that “his arrival allows us to strengthen our Labor and Employment practice, both in the Portuguese market and in other Portuguese-speaking countries, and helps us in our goal of becoming one of the leading firms in this jurisdiction”.
