Plan includes offering university-connected services to companies and recommendations for rewarding academic entrepreneurialism
Universities have been handed a role in the EU’s startup and scaleups strategy, which aims to help small companies grow in Europe so that they can create jobs and contribute to the continent’s economy, vibrancy and autonomy.
Presented by the European Commission on 28 May, the strategy says that Europe has more than 35,000 innovative small companies at present and “solid foundations” for small companies to thrive, but that starting and growing them “remains difficult”.
