At the SATCAB Symposium 2025, Mr. Upendrra Rai, well-known for being a journalist, talked about the ways of AI affecting the job industry, as well as the future of television and digital media. The Evolution of Television in India
Mr. Upendrra Rai began his address looking back all the way at the historical evolution of television in India. He said that it was the year 1959 when television services began; but by 1975, there were only seven cities that could witness this service. The revolution in the era of viewing was created with the launching of color television in the year 1982.
The Seven Epochs of Human Evolution
Mr. Upendrra Rai presented a rather philosophical approach, putting the evolution of mankind into seven epochs. He said that early humans lived in fear of nature and animals, struggling for survival. Over the ages, communities began to form, agriculture was discovered, and empires came into being. The industrial revolution is known to be one of the major turning points and the present world driven by AI becomes the eighth and transformative epoch, with innumerable possibilities.
AI as a Job Creator, Not a Threat
Mr. Upendrra Rai reassured the audience saying that AI will be the force creating more jobs than taking away jobs. “If 80% jobs are lost, then 95% new jobs will be created, mending the misconception associated with AI bringing about massive unemployment,” he added.
The Future of Technology and Innovation
According to Mr. Upendrra Rai, changes in technology continue to evolve the world. He said a lot of the top graduates of American leading companies are of Indian origin, which implies an increased global status for India. He then forecasts that when we hit the coming decades, our smartphones will have wearing capabilities, that
for thousands of years they will be having built-in chips and a virtual interaction, which finally means charging will not be there and there will not be any SIM cards. He also envisioned a future where by 2050, flying cars would be functional through drone and hydro-technology.
Demonstrating resilience in innovativeness, Mr. Upendrra Rai said that Elon Musk’s journey is the best example of a myriad of failures that turned to success. He said, “I feel Elon Musk doesn’t even know the ‘S’ of Space Engineering. He failed three times, but without taking a U-turn, he kept trying and ultimately succeeded on his fourth attempt in placing a satellite in space. Then, NASA awarded him his first contract.
