Since the beginning of 2025, Portuguese companies have raised $647 million (approximately €557.5 million) in the venture capital market, more than in the entire previous year.
Among this amount, US funds stand out, with a 78.5% share of total investment. This is the highest in at least the last 10 years.
The data comes from the US-based Pitchbook, which specialises in data analysis in private markets, and is cited by Expresso. In absolute terms, US participation was $508 million (€437.8 million) through August.
These figures are heavily influenced by Tekever, a technology company based in Caldas da Rainha specializing in drone manufacturing, which raised $500 million (€430.9 million) in May, becoming the seventh Portuguese unicorn.
