Venture-backed Cincinnati startup shutting its doors

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – A Cincinnati health care startup that had raised millions in venture capital is shutting down, a cessation blamed on ongoing challenges in the industry that it said made the business difficult to sustain.

In an email to patients Feb. 24, HerMD, a female-founded and physician-led women’s health care provider, said it is closing its doors effective March 21. The company specializes in menopause and women’s sexual health.

It, at one point, had two locations in Greater Cincinnati – in Symmes Township and Crescent Springs – and had expanded to Greater Indianapolis, Nashville and New Jersey in recent years, with plans to add additional markets.
