Which foods haven risen most in price this week?

“In the second week of March, this basket of essential goods cost 235.74 euros, 43 cents less (0.18 percent less) than in the first week of 2025 and 1.85 euros less (0.78 percent less) than a year ago. On January 5, 2022, when DECO PROteste began this analysis, the basic basket cost 48.04 euros less (25.59 percent less)”.

Despite the basket of essential goods being “slightly cheaper than at the beginning of the year and even compared to the same period last year, the truth is that, in the last three years, several products have seen their price increase significantly”.

“An example of this is beef, a product whose price has increased the most compared to the first week of January 2022. When DECO PROteste began monitoring the price of the food basket, a kilo of this meat cost 5.82 euros. On March 12 of this year, however, this price had already increased by 4.68 euros (up 80%), to 10.50 euros per kilo”.

Between March 5 and 12, the largest percentage price increases were recorded in products such as fibre cereals (up 10%), spaghetti (up 10%) and tuna in vegetable oil (up 8%).
