A woman who claimed more than €76,000 in benefits in respect of her deceased mother has been given one final chance to come up with a concrete repayment plan.

In May 2024, Catherine Byrne (56), McDonagh Park, Bettystown, Co. Meath, admitted stealing widow’s pension and carer’s allowance payments over an almost three-year period following the death of her mum in 2019.
