Yakima County sees decline in Employment while Wages rise
YAKIMA- Employment rose in 9 of the 10 largest counties in Washington from September 2023 to September 2024, the latest Quarter Reporting, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week, with the exception being Yakima County.
Regional Commissioner Chris Rosenlund noted that Benton and Snohomish County had the largest over-the-year increases in employment at 3.1 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. However, Yakima County was the only one of the 10 counties reported that saw a decrease of 1 percent in employment numbers.
All 10 large Washington Counties reported average weekly wage gains from the third quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2024. King County had the largest gain of +6.4 percent. Here, Yakima County fared better, ranking 7th on the list, with an increase of just under 4%.
