For a lot of Singaporean families, a freehold landed home is the ultimate property end goal, with more room, more privacy and something to hold for the long term. But price is one of the biggest hurdles, and it has only been climbing for most of the past decade.
Strata landed homes are where that search usually goes next. They give you the shape of a landed house, your own front door and driveway, at a price below the terrace down the road.
In this asset class, while the house is technically yours, the land it sits on is shared with every other owner in the development. If the development is gated and comes with shared facilities, a common term for that type of strata landed housing is a cluster home.
But the category is wider than that. It includes strata landed homes not within a gated compound and the landed houses built inside condo developments.
