Ukrainian companies, startups, and scientists will be able to cooperate more actively with European partners in creating defense technologies.
The Verkhovna Rada ratified two agreements between Ukraine and the European Union, which are expected to expand the participation of Ukrainian manufacturers and scientific institutions in joint defense projects, as well as promote the development and modernization of the domestic defense-industrial complex.
The bills in question are No. 0390 and No. 0391.
312 members of parliament voted in favor of ratifying the agreement that opens opportunities for Ukraine to participate in the European Defence Fund (EDF). The document creates legal conditions for the participation of Ukrainian companies, startups, scientific and research institutions in joint projects with EU partners in the field of defense research and development.
Thus, Ukrainian enterprises and developers will be able to join European cooperation in the creation and development of defense technologies.
The parliament also ratified an agreement concerning financial support and development of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex. Bill No. 0391 was supported by 317 members of parliament.
The agreement provides for the restoration, reconstruction, and expansion of production capacities of Ukrainian defense enterprises in accordance with NATO standards. In addition, the document aims to facilitate the involvement of Ukrainian manufacturers in joint defense projects and procurements with European partners.
It is expected that the implementation of the agreements will contribute to the gradual integration of the Ukrainian defense technology base into the European defense industry.
